My Gorgeous Godson Luciano
A bit of a different blog this week – it's got nothing to do with sewing! It’s an unashamed plug on behalf of someone I love (who hasn’t asked me to do it).
Having said that I want to say thank you SO much for all the scrub bags and scrub hats that are being made by you lovely lot. If you missed out both the pattern for the bag and the pattern for the cap are here and you can see how to make the bags here and the hats here.
Now to get to the main star of today’s post (and no, it’s not me for a change) my totally gorgeous and uber talented god son Luciano Cusack. I am totally biased, as my love for Luc (pronounced Looch) knows no bounds, but on the 17th April (tomorrow) he launches his very first single and I couldn't be more proud.
Ok, so who is he? I hear you asking. Luc is the son of my dearest friends Francesca and Pete. Francesca who, once upon a time worked in production on major movies including James Bond, Notting Hill, Neverland that kind of thing, is now a trained forensic psychologist. She is the one you have all been making the fabulous dolls for as she currently works with children who have been severely abused and she is their voice in all court proceedings. Her rock star husband is Pete Briquette from The Boomtown Rats, who are still going strong, he is also an accomplished and highly successful record producer (but for some unknown reason refuses to sign me up)! I have known them for donkey’s years and they are like family to me, I totally adore them.
Luc has always had a bent towards the musical and for years I was that pushy godfather wanting him to join Steps or create a boy band. Afterall, I have my old age to think of and if he's loaded I can live off his earnings!
At school he always sang beautifully, so much so that he was invited to become a chorister at Westminster Abbey (2008-2013) and from there he went to the Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School with a view to eventually singing with a big band or starring in huge west end musicals. It soon became apparent that, even though he had extraordinary musical skills, his acting left a lot to be desired. Fast forward a few years and he is now in his second year studying music in Brighton and it’s time for him to release his first single.
So, below is an exclusive snip of his debut single Remember What I Should
The official publicity blurb says the following:
“Luc is a London/Brighton based singer-songwriter taking inspiration from a mix of romantic ballads and 50's crooners. His debut single is a reminiscent up beat love song perfect for a dance around your bedroom that will slap you in the face with a bass riff then kiss it all better with a sweet and smooth harmony. All backed up by The Baby Cakes, a talented four piece band.”
So if you love it you can buy it or, as the youngsters say, download or stream it (I have no idea). You can also pre-order it on itunes for the princely sum of 79p or you can go to your favourite streaming shop and search for Luc & the Baby Cakes.
So, from the young boy, who I like to think got his singing attributes from me, his fairy god father, who went on to sing for the likes of Obama and who turns 21 next week I so think it’s worth 79p and you get a fabulous track to listen to too!
